Service Description: This service presents protected areas for the world. The service was developed by ESRI based on the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA). The WDPA provides the most comprehensive dataset on protected areas worldwide. The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre compiles the WDPA with information supplied by national protected area management authorities and international organizations. UNEP-WCMC manages the WDPA in partnership with the IUCN Commission on Protected Areas and the WDPA Consortium. For further information, email: protectedareas@unep-wcmc.org.
