Description: Lower 48 and Hawaii: Hillshade is derived from 30m USGS SRTM NED. Ocean/coasts tint is derived for the U.S. and from TeleAtlas with gaps filled in by NHD Plus areas. Forest canopy uses 30m USGS NLCD Forest Canopy in 10% bands. All freshwater hydrography is derived from NHDPlus flowlines, areas, and water bodies—all generalized and improved by ESRI; flowlines are shown based on mean annual flow as determined by upstream drainage. Road data is from TeleAtlas. Large U.S. National Parks from NPS, and National Forests, state parks, and military bases from TeleAtlas (improved by ESRI). Largest named landforms and marine water bodies are labeled; source is ESRI. City areas are ESRI’s urban polygons, shown roughly based on population density.
